Katie's twelve years working alongside Tricia Guild was a wonderful opportunity to learn from a leading design industry figurehead and internationally renowned trend setter. Over the decade Katie worked on a cornucopia of design spaces from showrooms, retail spaces and exhibitions to boutique hotels, high profile events and residential spaces. As 'Home' brands from Ralph Lauren, Christian Lacroix, Cath Kidston, Jasper Conran and William Yeoward are also under the Designers Guild umbrella Katie was also challenged across the style spectrum. DG was known for its modernity, and its bright colours and bold patterns, but the William Yeoward handwriting is traditional and decorative. Similarly Ralph Lauren designs in a multitude of styles from NYC loft living to the New England coastal interior - so a strong commercial awareness and designing within the parameters of each brand identity were Katie's modus operandi. Within the Reel you will see all manner of spaces and locations from the BBC outside broadcast pod at Live8 concert to the British Embassy in Paris; from retail spaces in Norway and Stockholm to a Gothenburg hotel and a Shanghai exhibition to a DG international launch event where Katie presents alongside Tricia. There are also residential projects thrown in for good measure. It was a great foundation to learn from the top and a colourful experience - as you will see!
