Eclectic Artistry
This family home in London's leafy suburb is home to a Film Director and Writer, who have creative eyes and enjoy challenging the banal. The brief was therefore focused on space, budget and a scheme that wasn't too contrived.
It was essential the mood created was organic and loose, open to change and any new creative thinking.
A T E L I E R | id converted the garage and added a large rear extension and a loft conversion. Furnishings were strictly vintage finds with our clients drawn to mid century modern - nothing was to be matchy matchy. Meetings were at auctions and early morning market stalls and through raw materials such as brick slips, solid wooden flooring and the Liberty print soft furnishings, alongside the numerous collated personal collections - the space came alive.
The large steel beam that spans the living space, essential to hold the house up, was unconventionally made a feature.
Rather than boxing in, we splashed it with colour! The canary yellow pays homage to our clients architect Father,
his signature colour is now proudly part of the next generation's family space.
WEST DULWICH testimonial
"We affectionately call Katie the K bomb as she literally blew up the house and made it land precisely into an explosion of colour and a riot of treasured pieces that fit our style and family life perfectly"
